The housing rental catastrophe will continue as long as the Gutwein Government continues to allow the overbearing level of red and green tape at both State and Local Govt level that continues to prevent any effective emergency housing to be actioned. It was an election promise to wind back this red and green tape that other states have been able to achieve.
There also seems a complete lack of any imagination in putting roofs over heads, the Mercury’s Damien Bester’s historical items reminds us that affordable housing emergencies are not new to us, we have dealt with this before, we just seem reluctant to learn from our history.
